The Tsukiji Market was one of the 11 Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Markets, which opened in 1935, and had been in service for 83 years until it closed in 2018.
Tsukiji Market handled many products such as fruits and vegetables or chicken and eggs, but as it was called “Tsukiji fish market” in guide books, it was especially known to ve the largest wholesale fish and seafood market. But as the facilities of the market became too old, it the market was relocated to the new market in Toyosu, and Tsukiji Market closed in October 6th, 2018.
One of the popular spots at Tsukiji Market was the tour of the frozen tuna auction. This tour was about to finish in September 15th, before the market closes.
