The Port of Yokosuka in Kanagawa prefecture, with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and U.S. Navy base lying within it, is a major naval port. This day, many vessels participating in the International fleet review, held in November 6th in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, were in port and foreign vessels from 12 countries could be seen. Also, the few weeks prior to the fleet review are called "Fleet week", and various events were hold to set the mood for the International fleet review.
Verny park is a seaside park, facing the main port of Yokosuka with a panoramic view of the Yokosuka naval base. It is a nice place to observe the JMSDF and US Navy vessels.
