At Berth 8 is DDG-114, USS Ralph Johnson and at Beth 9 is LCC-19, USS Blue Ridge. Blue Ridge is the flagship of the Seventh Fleet. Also she was deployed in 1970, making her the oldest US Navy warship in service.

Ships made of steel become magnetized over time, influenced by Earth's magnetic field. A deperming is a treatment to decrease this magnetic field in order to reduce the risk of triggering magnetic mines.
